This is one off the best site about india's biodiversity I have ever visited. I am a Range Forest Officer and it is my duty to conser the diversity. This site will be much helpful to me. There is a suggestion that add a category of "Rare and Threatened Plants". Congratulations to authors andThank you very much.

Thank you for creating such a wonderful site. The pictures are simply mesmerizing. The work is very professional. It refreshed all my childhood memories. It's so good to see all the trees and flowers. One suggestion I want to make is to add a navigation arrow on the right pane also.

Winter's approaching and it's the season to prepare for spring. i wanted to identify plants i could grow in my garden and this site has been a great help. keep up the goodwork. i have added this site to my list of favourites.
if you could try and include more info on how to grow all the plants listed (what climate suits it, what conditions etc) it would be great. i know that would be a herculean task and maybe we could instead contact some of the listed nurseries.anyway, thanks for this and please keep it up!

I want to know the address where Brahma Kamal is availble for purchase. I have orchid cactus (Epyphyllum genus)at home. But I want saussurea Obvallata, the original brahma kamal.
rameshraju
Hyderabad, andhra pradesh India - Monday, October 06, 2008 at 16:12:09 (IST)
Team's reply: Brahma Kamal (Saussurea obvallata) is a plant which naturally grows only at altitudes higher than 3000 m above sea level, places which are frozen in winters. To be able to grow it at home, one would probably need a very cold climate. So, it is highly unliklely that it can be grown as a potted plant in Hyderabad.
Very useful & informative website. Have referred and found rare species many times over.
I'd like to comment that - the plant/flower listed as Dracnea here may actually be Cordyline Terminalis (Red Sister). You may wish to cross-check.

Srutyananda
Kolkata, West Bengal India - Sunday, August 31, 2008 at 19:33:59 (IST)
Team's reply: Srutyananda, you can search for a flower by its local name in various Indian languages, by using the search box on the main page of the site. Unfortunately, the spelling of Indian names is quite variable, when written in Roman script. So, you should try various spellings when searching for a flower.
This site is really a valuable & knowledgeful ,providing good informations about flora of India. Visiting this site I gained a lot of informations about medicinal plants.

Excellent !!!! Single window information service on FLOWERS.
Actually I attempted this site mainly to gather information about some flowers which I seen abundantly near my place, but no one to give proper info about its details. But later I was surprised to see the vast Floral database in this site along with pictures.
Even though I came across some sites on Flower Glossary, this is very very Indian in content and deals with several flowers found only in the subcontinent.
Great collection !!! My heartful appreciation.

Ideally one would expect such information to be offered by the Horticultural or Agricultural colleges that run on tax payers money. They unfortunately dont have the vision to do what you have done. To all the folks associated with this site....
probably one of the best sites on the Indian Flora.Makes me envious of the rest of India for having such wonderful flowers and trees than I cannot have here in Mumbai. The site is continuously evolving for the better with the recent section on bulbous plants....fantastic.
I would like to suggest that we should also try and have a mechanism in the site whereby members can locate the various plants with the help of all the contributing members mentioned in your credits. For example if I want someplants from manipur, maybe girija can have a few nursery names on this site from that part of India from whom one can source the plants. Its just a suggestion....
Keep up the fantastic site..

Amazing site. I am very happy to discover this site. It's just what I had been looking for as most sites are native to their own species and climates. I will be contributing flower photographs, from time to time, which may be useful for the site. May the site grow, progress and help all those who need the wealth of information available here.

I searched and read about Glory Lily on the site, It is appreciable to get this handy information about Indian flora on this sight, although we can search about its cultivation on many sites on net, but it will be highly useful if this site provides few tips of its cultivation in Indian conditions, and in different zones of India, I am very fond of this flower from my childhood and tried many times to cultivate it at home in this arid zone of India, but failed, very recently I came to know that it requires a strong Alkaline medium, I am going to try it. I will be highly obliged if I get more tips. It is called "Kalihari" in this region.

What an excellent website!! Its just awesome, and I love it!
Thanks very much. Some suggestions:
1 This if only a wish, otherwise also you guys have done a terrific job - if you can put more high-res photos so that they can be blown up to very large side for viewing on
modern large flat panel monitors. Bee's eye view :D!!
2 Please change references to "myth" and mythology when referring to Hindu literature or Hindu dharma. A mere look at these flowers, and thanks to you, inspires spiritual thought in the mind. Such power and inspiration cannot be a myth nor anything whatsoever in Hindu literature is myth.
Congrats and keep it up.
Thanks, Sai R.

It has got quality pictures and the presentation is simple but at the same time reasonably effective. Can you help me by suggesting (a) frame size (b)megapixel settings in the camera and (c) the distance from which picture be taken for a quality picture?
Also, would you be interested in putting a little bit of extra information about these flowering plants life cycle like sowing, period of flowering.
