Botanical name: Globba racemosa    Family: Zingiberaceae (Ginger family)

Yellow Swan Flower is a beautiful wildflower in ginger family. Slender orange-yellow flowers are born in lax clusters, 10-20 cm long. Flowers are tubular with 3 petals. Flower-tube is about 1-1.5 cm, petals reflexed, about 5 mm. Lateral staminodes are lanceshaped, equaling the petals. Lip is reflexed, inverted-wedge-shaped, about 7 mm, tip 2-cleft. Sepal-cup is top-shaped, 4-5 mm. Fertile is stamen is single, 1-1.2 cm, looking like a swan's neck. It is a slender plant, usually 2-3 ft tall. Leaves are lanceshaped, long pointed, stalkless, 15-20 cm long, 3-6 cm wide, sometimes slightly velvety beneath. Yellow Swan Flower is found in Eastern Himalayas.
