Botanical name:Sedum album Family:Crassulaceae (orpine family)
This is a low plant with rounded succulent leaves which grow erect off the
stem, almost covering it, and
quickly form a dense mat of foliage. Creeping stems root at the nodes.
Clusters of tiny white to pale pink flowers appear above the foliage in early
summer. The flowers are star-like with 5 petals and 5 sepals.
There are 10 stamens. The flowers are white while the bud has hints of pink.
Apart from being ornamental, the Sedum assumes importance by preferring full
sunand also being drought tolerant. It is recommended as a "Green Roof"
plant.
