Tree-Dwelling Lawngrass is a delicate annual grass
with stems weak, 8-20 cm long. It often grows on branches of trees with
mosses, or on roofs and rocks. Stem-nodes are bearded. Leaf-sheaths are
hairless on surface, or bristly. Ligule an efringed with hairs
membrane; 0.3-0.5 mm long. Leaf-blades are flat, or conduplicate; 3-7
cm long; 1.5-3 mm wide; membranous, surface hairless. Inflorescence is
a panicle. Panicle open; lanceshaped; 3-8 cm long. Primary panicle
branches bearing spikelets almost to the base. Spikelets solitary.
Fertile spikelets stalked. Spikelets comprising 1 fertile florets;
without rhachilla extension. Spikelets lanceshaped; laterally
compressed; 2-2.8 mm long; falling entire. Spikelet callus
velvet-hairy; base blunt. Tree-Dwelling Lawngrass is endemic of
Maharashtra.
