Botanical name: Andrographis lineata    Family: Acanthaceae (Acanthus family)

Striped False-Waterwillow is a stout erect herb. Leaves are oblong-lanceshaped, 4-7 by 1-1.3 cm, base rounded or obtuse, margin stiff hairy, tip pointed. Leaves are hairy, thick-papery. Leaf-stalk is absent or very short. Flowers are borne in dense panicles at branch ends, glandular hairy. Sepals are lanceate, pale purple, slightly ventricose. Capsule is oblong-cylindric. Seeds small. Striped False-Waterwillow is found in Western Ghats, mostly Karnataka.
Medicinal uses: Striped False-Waterwillow is an endemic medicinal plant used for medication. The plant parts are used in the form of decoction, juice, paste and powder. Plant is used for speedy recovery sickness like diabetes, jaundice, anti-diabetic, antipyretic, worms, snake bite, anti-inflammatory, skin diseases and antivenom.
