Stinking Scented-Top is an annual or perennial grass with stems up to 1.5 m long, erect or straggling. Leaves are up to 20 cm long, 1 cm wide, elliptic-lanceshaped, tapering at tip. Ligules membranous. Flowers are borne in open or contracted panicles, upto 15 cm long. Stalkless spikelets are 0.25-0.4 cm long, hairy or hairless. Lower florets are empty, upper bisexual. Upper lemma is 0.1-0.2 cm long, hyaline, awn 1-1.5 cm long. Stinking Scented-Top is native to India, Myanmar, West Himalaya. Flowering: November-March.
