Spiny-Leaf Scaly-Ball is a prostrate herb, and
forms a cover on the ground. Leaves have spines on the margin and on
the tip. It closely resembles
Spiny Scaly-Ball but can be
identified in the field with its broadly elliptic-ovate leaves with
spinose-toothed margin, bracts lanceshaped, with a short sharp point
to aristate. It also resembles L. barberi but differs by having
elliptic-ovate leaves and ovoid spikes with spreading bracts.
Spiny-Leaf Scaly-Ball is found in waste land in Tamil Nadu.
