Botanical name: Pulicaria wightiana    Family: Asteraceae (Sunflower family)

Sontikli is an annual herb, growing up to 1-2 ft high. Stems are erect, pinkish, branched at the top. Branches are anglled, rising, leafy and velvety. Alternately arranged stalkless leaves are oblong, 3-8 cm long, toothed, velvety. Leaves are smaller towards the top. Flower-heads are yellow, 2-4 cm across, arising singly on leafy stalks, 10-20 cm long, at the end of branches. The stalks are hollow, enlarged upwards. Ray florets are 1.5-2 cm long, 2-3 mm wide, 3-toothed at the tip. Sontikli is found in Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Goa, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu. Flowering: August-September.
