Botanical name: Fraxinus micrantha    Family: Oleaceae (Jasmine family)

Small-Flowered Himalayan Ash is a large deciduous tree with grey bark. Young shoots are rusty haired. Numerous tiny white flowers are borne in large branched clusters up to 25 cm across. Flowers have no petals. Leaves are pinnate, with 5-9 elliptic-lanceshaped, long-pointed, saw-toothed, stalked leaflets 6-15 cm long. Fruits are winged, 4.5 cm long, 8 mm broad. Small-Flowered Himalayan Ash is found in the Hinalayas, from Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand to Nepal. Flowering: April-May.
