Silk Leaf is an annual herb, 50-100 cm tall. Oppositely arranged simple, ovate leaves with toothed margin, are 3-5 cm long. The leaves are silky beneath. Tiny white-cream colored flowers, with 5 petals, occur in a composite head 2-3 cm across. The heads are surrounded by silky leaves, which probably lends it one of its common names.
