Net-Veined Amaryllis was one of the earliest
Hippeastrums to be discovered and was introduced to Europe in 1777 by
Edward Whitaker Gray from Brazil. It is a perennial herb with
lanceshaped pseudo stalked leaves; tip of the leaf pointed. Leaves
commonly have a white stripe on the midrib. The plant produces umbels
of fragrant, light purplish pink funnel-shaped flowers. Flowers are
funnel- to trumpet-shaped; with dark pink veins. Net-Veined Amaryllis
is native to E. Brazil to Argentina, cultivated elsewhere.
