Synonyms: Botryanthus neglectus, Hyacinthus neglectus, Muscari racemosum var. neglectum

Musk Hyacinth is perennial herb up to 20-30 cm tall. Bulbs are ovoid, 2-3 x 2-2.5 cm, tunics dark brown. Leaves are 3-6; blade channeled to nearly round, narrowly linear, 15-30 cm x 2-5 mm, tip abruptly contracted. Flowering stems are 8-25 cm, usually equaling leaves. Racemes are 20-40-flowered, a feature that distinguishes is easily from the 12-20-flowered Muscari botryoides. Flower tube is blackish blue, obovoid to oblong-urn-shaped or cylindric, 4-6 x 2-3 mm, teeth white; fertile and sterile flowers equal (sterile may be slightly smaller and paler); flower-stalk declined or nodding, 3-5 mm. Capsules are 5-7 x 5-7 mm. Musk Hyacinth is native to Central Europe to Medit. and Central Asia, cultivated elsewhere. Flowering: March-May.
