Thalictrum punduanum - Khasi Meadow-Rue

Khasi Meadow-Rue is a perennial herb, 18-60 cm tall. Flowers are borne in hairless, corymb-like panicles, 10-50-flowered. Flowers are bisexual, flat, 1-3 cm across, drying blackish. Sepals are 4 (rarely 5), elliptic-oblong, 4-8 x 1.8-3 mm, white to pinkish, sometimes reflexed. Stamens are shorter than sepals; anthers 0.7-1 mm, filaments 1.5-2 mm. Bracts are ternate or simple, often minute; flower-stalks 2-3.5 cm long. Stems are erect, striped, hairless. Basal and lower stem leaves are 1-3, 5.5-11 cm long, hairless, 2-3-ternate; leaflets flabellate, broadly ovate to obovate, 1-2.3 x 1.2-2.3 cm, somewhat heart-shaped to wedge-shaped at base, 3-lobed with 2-3-lobulate-rounded toothed lobes, teeth rounded to blunt, apiculate, somewhat leathery, hairless on both surfaces, lower surface glaucous and netveined. Leaf-stalks are 6.5-11 cm long; sheaths eared, entire or slightly laciniate. Upper stem leaves are smaller, usually 3-foliolate, leaf-stalks up to 4.5 mm long. Seedpods are 20-50, 3-4.5 x 1.5-2 mm, hairless, 2-costate on each side, gradually tapering into a long, curved beak. Khasi Meadow-Rue is found in the Himalayas, from Uttarakhand to NE India, at altitudes of 1200-2500 m.
