God's Crown is a shrub or tree 1-18 m tall, with
greenish bark and white wood. It has green, tapered leaves. The flowers
are green to white, trumpet-shaped, in clusters of 2-4 which are
produced throughout the year, but mostly during the rainy season. The
leaves are green and tapering 7-10 cm long and 3-5 cm wide. Ellipsoid
fruits are green when unripe, and have a diameter of 3 cm. They are red
when ripe. God's Crown is native to New Guinea and Nicobar Islands,
cultivated as a medicinal plant elsewhere.
Medicinal uses: Traditionally, various parts
of God's Crown are used to reduce pain, stomachache, diarrhea, tumor
problems, blood glucose, cholesterol, and blood pressure.
