Dotted-Lip Bulb-Leaf Orchid is a mini-miniature sized,
tree-dwelling or rock-dwelling orchid on mossy rocks has close set,
ovoid, compressed, weakly curved, rugose pseudobulbs with a single
apical, deflexed, oblong-lanceshaped, somewhat pointed to blunt,
stalked leaf. The plant blooms in the fall on a basal, very short
inflorescence with a basal, tubular sheath and carrying a single
flower. Flower is upside down, moderately opening, yellow or yellowish
green with reddish purple dots, lip yellow, heavily stained with
reddish purple above, column yellow. Flower-stalk and ovary 2.0-2.6 cm.
Dorsal sepal recurved with top incurved, elliptic to ovate, 8-12 x
4.5-9 mm, rather thick, base rather broadly attached, margin entire,
tip blunt to pointed; lateral sepals free, recurved,
(ovate-)triangular, 9-13 x 6-10 mm, pointed, otherwise as dorsal sepal.
Petals are recurved, elliptic to obovate, 6-10 x 3-5 mm, rather thick,
base broadly attached, margins entire to finely erose-finely toothed,
tip rounded to somewhat pointed; lip recurved close to tip, ovate,
5.5-8.5 x 4-6 mm, thick. Dotted-Lip Bulb-Leaf Orchid is found in
Central Himalaya to China (Yunnan), Central Taiwan, at altitudes of
1000-1700 m.
