Congested-Flower Squill is a bulbous herb, bearing flowering-stems, 5-16 cm height. Leaves are 1-2, fleshy, 16 x 0.9 cm. Flowering stem 5-10 x 0.3 cm, slender, hairless, smaller than the leaves. Flower-racemes are 5 cm long, 6-8 flowered, rising up. Flowers are 6-7 x 2-3 mm, when open 1.3 cm wide across, white in color. Bracts are 2 x 1.5 mm, minute, triangular, spurred; flower-stalks are 2-3 mm long. Tepals are 6, in 2 whorls, about 6 x 3 mm, oblong-lanceshaped, blunt. Stamens are 6 free, opposite to tepals, filaments 3 mm, anthers 3 x 1 mm oblong. Ovary is 3 x 2 mm, ovate-oblong; style 3 x 1 mm, stout, stigma stout trilobed, lobes tubercled. Capsule is 7-10 x 5-7 mm, nearly-spherical, trilocular, 9-12 seeded. Congested-Flower Squill is found in S. India, Sri Lanka. Flowering: April-June.
