Bolivian Begonia is a very beautiful plant with drooping scarlet flowers. It was discovered in the Andes mountains in Bolivia, and introduced into gardening. Mature plants can grow up to 2 ft tall with an equal spread and will take on a gently arching habit. The leaves are lanceshaped to slightly oblique-ovate in shape, can reach 12 cm long and 3-4 cm wide. The crimson-orange, pendant flowers are held in loose, leaf-axil clusters of two or three flowers. Male flowers will reach around 5 cm long and female flowers will reach around 2.5 cm long. Bolivian Begonia is native to S. Central & S. Bolivia to NW. Argentina.
