Anamalai Langsat is an evergreen tree up to 20 m tall. Leaves are compound, 10-30 cm long; leaflets 4-6, elliptic-lanceshaped, up to 16 x 6 cm alternate, pointed or almost equilateral at base, pointed at tip with domatia in axis of veins on lower side. Flowers are borne in leaf-axils, in spikes or panicles with spike-like branches, bisexual white. Petals are 5, free, overlapping, staminal tube spherical; anthers 10, in 2 whorls of 5 each, lower with prolonged connectives. Sepals are 5, overlapping. Ovary is 4-5-celled, stigma 4-5-lobed. Fruit is a berry with kidney-shaped seeds. Anamalai Langsat is found in the Western Ghats: Maharashtra, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Kerala. Flowering: March-July.
