White-Orange Moth Orchid is a dwarf sized, tree-dwelling orchid with broad elliptic leaves about 4-6 cm long. It is named for Thomas Lobb, English Orchid Collector in India 1800's. The plany blooms on a lateral, 10 cm long, raceme or panicle, few flowered, with small bracts that bear from 3-7 sequentially opening, strongly fragrant flowers. The flowers are small, white with sepals larger than the petals. The lip is big with a tan colored stripe. Flowers are white, swollen base of column with a few irregularly distributed brown spots, with a regular pair of darker brown spots below tips of swellings, leading edges of lateral lobes of lip brown spotted, mid-lobe white with 2 broad, longitudinal chestnut-brown stripes; flower-stalk and ovary to 1.5 cm. White-Orange Moth Orchid is found in E. Himalaya to China, Myanmar, Vietnam, at altitudes of 366-1200 m. Flowering: March-May.
