White Himalayan Maharanga is a very rare perennial herb of the
Himalayas, with stems 1-2 ft tall. It is a
woody herb with hairy parts. Flowers are bracteate, in branch-end and
lateral nodding clusters 2.5-7.5 cm long. Flowers are tubular, gradually
broadening upwards, white to bluish, 0.8-1.2 cm long. Petals are short,
patent or not. Sepals are 0.8 cm long, linear, scarcely enlarged in fruit.
Anthers have more than half their length protruding out. Bracts are 0.8 cm
long, linear; flower-stalks 0-6 mm long.
Leaves are linear, white-wolly beneath. Stem leaves are about 4 cm long,
3-4 mm wide, hairy above. White Himalayan Maharanga is found in N. Pakistan to W. Himalaya. at altitudes of about 2000 m. Flowering: April-May.
