Varnished Coelogyne is a miniature sized,
tree-dwelling orchid with pseudobulbs that are small, smooth and round
and carry a single, apical lanceshaped to lanceshaped-elliptic,
pointed, membraneous, 5 to 7 veined, pleated leaf. The plant blooms in
the spring on a pendant, 4.5-10 cm long, few to several flowered,
raceme arising from the base of the mature pseudobulb. The flowers are
white, 1 to 1.3 cm across, having a slightly musky smell and have 4
pollina. Varnished Coelogyne is found in NE India to Myanmar.
