Tiny Bulb-Leaf Orchid is a miniature sized,
tree-dwelling orchid with sometimes touching, sometimes 0.7-1.25 cm
between each ovoid pseudobulb carrying a single, narrowly elliptic,
nearly pointed, stalkless leaf, narrowing towards the base. The plant
blooms in the later summer on a erect, slender, 2.5-3.75 cm long, 3 to
4 flowered inflorescence with lanceshaped, tapering, equal to the ovary
in length floral bracts. Flowers are pendent, 6-8 mm long; sepals and
petals red purple to yellow blotched with dark red purple, lip deep red
purple; flower-stalk and ovary hairless, 4-7 mm long. Dorsal sepal is
oblong ovate, pointed 3 veined, 5-6 x 1.5-2 mm; lateral sepals linear
oblong, tapering, weakly curved, divergent, 3 veined, adnate at base
only, 1.1-1.6 x 0.2-0.3 mm. Petals are ovate, pointed, margins erose, 3
veined, 3.5-4.5 x 1-1.3 mm. Lip is simple, fleshy, narrowly oblong,
tapering to somewhat pointed at tip, 3-4 x 0.5-0.8 mm. Tiny
Bulb-Leaf Orchid is found in Nepal to NE India, China and N. Myanmar.
