Smallflower Spirea a branched shrub 1-1.5 m tall, with
leaves ovate-lanceshaped 4-15 x 2-5 cm, gradually tapering, base
narrow, margin usually coarsely doubly sawtoothed; leaf-stalks up to 1
cm. Flowers are borne in very long spreading panicles 8-20 cm broad.
Flowers are 4-6 mm across, petals white or pink. Disk glands are large.
Seedpods are 1.5-2 mm, velvet-hairy. Smallflower Spirea is found in
the Himalayas, from Nepal to Bhutan, NE India, at altitudes of
1400-3000 m. Flowering: June-August.
