Rough Rattlepod is a densely brown hairy shrub with
brownish yellow flowers, 1.5-2 cm long. Standard petal has a line of
brown hair along midrib; wings with transverse scaly folds; keels
cottony on inner margins. Staminal sheath 4-5 mm long, filaments 4-6 mm
long, style 0.8-1 cm long. Sepal-cup is 1-1.5 cm long, densely hairy;
sepals 5, almost equal. Flowers are borne in few flowered racemes with
flowers up to the tip of racemes. Leaves 2-3 x 1-1.5 cm, blunt at tip,
round at base; margins recurved. Stipules are thread-like, 0.5-0.7 cm
long. Pods are 3-3.5 x 1.2-1.5 cm, oblong. Seeds are 3-4 mm in
diameter, concavo-convex. Rough Rattlepod is endemic to Southern
Western Ghats. Flowering: January-March.
