Red Twist Heliconia is a small tuberous shrub with huge leaves, up to
several feet long. It is native to southeastern Mexico to Central America.
It has also been widely cultivated as ornamental plant in gardens for its
showy inflorescences. Inflorescence has a braided appearance, hence the
species name tortuosa.
