Red High Avens is a particularly handsome colored species, closely related to High Avens, which normally has yellow flowers. The flowers are bright red, borne atop leafless stems. Red High Avens is found in Nepal and Kashmir, at altitudes of 3500-4250 m. It is also cultivated in Europe.
