Nilgonda is a herb found in Western Ghats. The species name
trinervius comes from the fact that the leaves of the plant have 3
nerves. Flowers occur in a spiny spike, 3-15 cm long, occuring in leaf
axils. The bracts are 8 mm long. Blue flowers are 2 lipped, with yellow
centre, and veined with white or pale blue. Upper lip has dark violet, fading
outwards from centre.
Flowering: December.
