Nicobar Palm is an attractive palm that at first
glance looks like a King Palm, but can be differentiated by the
slightly arched leaves and the exceptionally long, yellow-green
crownshaft with the slight bulge at the base. It grows up to about 20 m
tall and girth is about 25 cm. It is a solitary palm, and has arching
pinnate leaves and a light green crown shaft. Inflorescences arise from
below the lowest frond, cream, spirally arranged. Fruits are globular,
black, about 1 cm in diameter, and the single seed is grooved on one
side. Nicobar Palm is endemic to Nicobar island.
