Mountain Justicia is an erect herb or undershrub.
Leaves are opposite,
elliptic-lanceshaped, tip pointed, narrowed at base, leaf-stalk 1-4 cm
long. Flowers clustered in paniculate spikes 15-35 cm, at the end of
branches. Lower cluster are farther apart from each other as compared to
the upper ones. Flowers to 2.5 cm long, white, with pink streaks. Sepals
5, lance-like, hairy. Flowers 2-lipped, velvet-hairy; tube to 1 cm long
; 3-lobed ; Stamens 2 ; filaments dilated below, anther cells unequal,
spurred. Ovary 2-locule ; ovules 2 in each locule ; style erect, hairy
below ; stigma bilobed. Capsules are 2.5 cm long, club-shaped, velvet-hairy ;
seeds 4, rugose. Flowering: December-February.
