Lime Berry is a spiny evergreen shrub, rarely a small
tree, growing up to 3 m tall. Leaves are trifoliate, glossy dark green,
each leaflet 2-4 cm long and 1.5-2 cm broad. Flowers are white, with
three petals 1.0-1.3 cm long and 4 mm broad. The fruit is a red,
edible, 1.0-1.5 cm in diameter, similar to a small Citrus fruit. The
fruit flesh is pulpy, with a flavor reminiscent of a slightly sweet
lime. It is grown for its edible fruit, and has been widely introduced
to other subtropical to tropical regions of the world; it has become
naturalized on a number of islands in the tropical Pacific Ocean. Lime
Berry is native range to Bangladesh to Papuasia and Marianas. In India
it is found only in Nicobar islands.
