Botanical name: Habenaria foliosa    Family: Orchidaceae (Orchid family)

Leafy Habenaria is a ground orchid with leaves up to 11 x 2.5 cm, equidistant, elliptic-lanceshaped or inverted-lanceshaped, with a short sharp point, hairless. Flowering stem is up to 10 cm long, flowers white, about 5, up to 1.5 cm across. Dorsal sepal is elliptic, concave 6 x 7 mm; laterals sickle shaped, 1 x 0.5 cm. Petals are 2-partite, lobes linear, upper 7 x 1 m, lower 5 x 1 mm. Lip deeply 3-lobed, lobes linear, minutely warty; midlobe 1.3 x 0.1 cm; side lobes 1 cm long; spur longer than ovary. Leafy Habenaria is native to Western Ghats. Flowering: August-September.
