Konkan Zebrawood is a large climbing shrub. Leaflets
are 15 x 5 cm, elliptic-oblong, abruptly tapering, rounded at base;
nerves 5 or 6 pairs, netveined; leaf-stalk 6 mm long, transversally
rugose. Flowers are borne in panicles 18 x 12 cm, in leaf-axils on old
branches, rusty hairy. Flowers are nearly stalkless, few-together;
petals 4.5 x 1.5 mm, inverted-lanceshaped, downy outside; filaments
unequal; fertile one 2 mm long; sepals 2.5 mm long, bristly; ovary
densely hairy. Seedpods are bright red, turning brown, seeds
compressed, shining black. Konkan Zebrawood is endemic to Southern
Western Ghats.
