Konkan Muraina Grass is an annual grass with stems
clustered, branched, 40-60 cm tall; nodes hairless. Lleaves are
pointed; blade flat, lanceshaped, 6-10 x 0.5-1.3 cm, narrowed at base,
pointed at tip, margin rough; leaf-stalk absent. Flower racemes are 2,
appressed to each other and appears solitary; axis club-shaped, 4-5 mm
long, bristly along the margin; callus short, beared. Stalkless
spikelets are oblong-lanceshaped, 5.5-6.5 mm long awned; lower glumes
5.5-5.8 mm long, papery below. Stalked spikelets are
oblong-lanceshaped, 5-5.5 mm long. Konkan Muraina Grass is found in the
Konkan region of Western Ghats, down south to Kerala. Flowering:
September-December.
