Himalayan Milk Parsley is a perennial herb 1-3 m
tall. Stem is stout, hairless, branched. Leaf bases are large,
sheathing. Leaves are 3-pinnate; pinnae lanceshaped to oval, 1-3 cm
long, pinnately parted to pinnately cut. Flowers have involucre of 5-12
long linear, white margined bracts. Umbel base velvet-hairy. Rays 30 or
more, 4-8 cm long, rough or minutely velvet-hairy. Bractlets are
similar to the involucral bracts. Base of the flowering umbellet
velvet-hairy. Flower-stalks are 5-15 mm long. Sepal-cup teeth linear.
Fruit is broadly oblong to almost-quadrate, 4-6 mm long; ridges winged;
dorsal furrows 1-vittate, lateral 1-2-vittate; commissure 4-vittate.
Inner seed face slightly concave. Himalayan Milk Parsley is native to
the Himalaya, from Kashmir to NE India, at altitudes of 2500-3500 m.
