Botanical name: Mucuna imbricata    Family: Fabaceae (Pea family)
Synonyms: Carpopogon imbricatus, Stizolobium imbricatum, Mucuna yadaviana

Himalayan Jade Vine is a large woody twiner, leaflets ovate or rhombic 10-15 x 5-10 cm, pointed, with a short sharp point, base rounded or wedge-shaped, hairless or with a few fine brown appressed hairs. Infloresence 5-20cm, bracts persistent, broadly ovate, 2.5-3 x 2-2.5 cm. Sepal-cup tube is broadly bell-shaped, 1 x 2 cm, teeth triangular 5-14-6 mm, with few irritating bristles. Petals are dull purple, standard 3-3.5 cm, wings and keel 5 cm. Pods are 10-15 cm long, 5 cm broad, covered with oblique lamellae, T or Y-shaped in section all interrupted near midline to leave a longitudinal gap crossed by none, each suture with 2 marginal wings 10mm broad, wings and lamellae sparsely covered with brown irritant bristels. Himalayan Jade Vine is found in the Himalayas, at altitudes of 600-1200 m, South India, SE Asia, Malaysia, China. Flowering: July-October.
