Flower-Head Hedyotis is a perennial, erect herb, 50-70
cm tall. Leaves are opposite, stalk about 2.5 mm; blade elliptic-ovate,
4-8 x 2-4 cm, rounded at base, pointed at tip; stipules triangular,
2-3.5 mm. Flowers are borne at branch-ends, in 8-15 mm across,
spherical, many flowered heads, with lanceshaped bracts 0.5-2 mm.
Flowers are stalkless, purple to pinkish violet to white,
funnel-shaped, about 5 mm. Anthers protrude out, about 1 mm, stigma
about 1 mm, not protruding. Sepal-cup is hairy, almost spherical, about
1 mm; sepals triangular, 2.5-4 mm, ciliolate. Capsules are almost
spherical, 1.5-2 x 1.8-2 mm. Flower-Head Hedyotis is found NE India to
China, Myanmar, at altitudes of 200-1200 m. Flowering: April-September.
