East-Himalayan Sumac is a tree 6-8 m tall; branchlets ferruginous woolly. Leaf-stalk is 10-14 cm, warty, leaf blade compound; leaflets 7-9, opposite. Leaflet blade is elliptic or oblong, 14-23 x 6-9 cm, lateal veins 20-35 pairs. Flowers are borne in panicles, 20-35 cm, hairless to sparsely velvet-hairy; flower-cluster-stalk 6-10 cm. Flower-stalks are about 1 mm, ferruginous velvet-hairy. Sepals are broadly ovate, about 0.5 mm. Petals are oblong, about 2 mm. Stamens are equal to petals in length; filaments subulate, about 1 mm. Drupe is spherical, 4-5 mm in diameter, yellow and lucid at maturity. East-Himalayan Sumac is found in the Himalayas, from Nepal to NE India, at altitudes of 1600-2000 m.
