Botanical name: Cyanotis pilosa    Family: Commelinaceae (Dayflower family)
Synonyms: Cyanotis wightii, Tradescantia pilosa

Dense-Flowered Dew-Grass is quite similar to Ascending Dew-Grass, but has relatively many more flowers in the inflorescence. Flower cymes are borne at branch ends and in leaf axils, 3-5 in a cluster, peduncle 1.5-1 cm, hairy. Bracts are up to 2 cm, lanceshaped, bracteoles up to 1 x 5 cm, lanceshaped, ciliate along the margin. Flowers are 1 cm across, sepals hairy, petals purple, ovate-circular; filaments hairy, style 1 cm. Capsule to 3 mm, pyramidal. Stem is prostrate. Leaves 5-8 x 1-2 cm, linear-lanceshaped or elliptic, tip long-pointed, base narrow, hairless above, velvety below, sheath up to 1 cm, hairy. Dense-Flowered Dew-Grass is found in Peninsular India and Sri Lanka. Flowering: November-December.
