Botanical name: Torenia courtallensis Family: Linderniaceae (Lindernia family)

Courtallam Wishbone Flower is a creeping herbs with
stems slender, hairless. It is named for Courtallam hills in Tamil
Nadu. Flower tube is white, petals blunt, hairy, bluish violet;
appendage on staminal filaments 3 mm long, club-shaped. Sepal-cup is
0.8 cm long, broadly winged; wing fringed with hairs. Flowers are borne
singly in leaf-axils, carried on flower-stalks up to 7 cm long; hairy.
Leaves are up to 2.5 x 1.5 cm, ovate-triangular, pointed, rounded at
base, sparsely hairy; leaf-stalk 0.5 cm long. Capsules are 8 mm long,
ellipsoid, hairless. Courtallam Wishbone Flower is found in Western
Ghats and Sri Lanka. Flowering: August-December.
