Coral Bulb-Leaf Orchid is a miniature sized,
tree-dwelling orchid with clustered, elongate-elliptic to ovate, 4
angled pseudobulbs carrying a single apical, narrowly elliptic, blunt
leaf. The plant blooms in the late spring through early fall on many,
very short, several flowered inflorescence held very close to the
pseudobulb base. Flowers are brownish red, about 3 mm. Sepals are free,
thickly textured; dorsal sepal ovate-lanceshaped, 2.2-6 x about 1 mm,
tip tapering; lateral sepals obliquely ovate-triangular or sickle
shaped-lanceshaped, 2.3-7 x about 1 mm, base adnate to column foot
forming a mentum, margins strongly incurved above middle, tip long
tapering. Petals are oblong, 1.2-1.8 x 0.5-0.8 mm, membranous, margins
irregularly finely toothed, tip pointed; lip hooked-recurved, about 1.3
x 0.3 mm, fleshy. Coral Bulb-Leaf Orchid is is found in NE India,
China to Indo-China, at altitudes of 1100-1600 m.
