Common name: Blue Sonki • Marathi: मोठा सोनकी Motha Sonki
Botanical name: Adenoon indicum    Family: Asteraceae (Sunflower family)

Blue Sonki an erect branched plant, half a meter tall. Alternately arranged, stalkless, broad-elliptic leaves, 5-8 cm long, are acute at both ends. Leaf margin is coarsely serrated, rough, glandular. Leaves are light green above, pale beneath. Blue-purple flower-heads occcur in corymbose panicles 10-20 cm. Bracts oblong, hairy, nerves 3 pairs, grandular; style arms hairy. Achenes are 2-3 mm, 10 ribbed. It is occasionally found in grasslands at high elevations on Western Ghats. Flowering: September-November.
