Blue Iris is one of the tallest members of the iris
family, with stems typically rising to 3 ft, occasionally to 5 ft,
tall. It grows in clumps with attractive narrow linear leaves, up to
3-4 ft long. Flowers typically have bluish-purple to lilac segments
with falls having a yellow ridge. Cultivated plants have color range to
include white, blue, purple, wine and brown. Blue Iris is native to N.
Central & Central Europe to Iran, cultivated in Western Himalaya.
In Kashmir it is grown on graves.
